City Council Minutes <br />February 3, 2009 <br />Page 3 of 11 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />Tommy Woog reviewed a draft resolution in support of federal funding for <br />the Highway 371 project. Tommy updated the Council on the Highway 371 <br />committee meetings that have been held. He noted that a joint meeting <br />was held with partner community members along the Highway 371 <br />corridor for the purpose of researching the possibility of obtaining federal <br />funds. He further stated that it was suggested by Melissa Samuelson, <br />Congressman Oberstar's Representative to have a resolution from all <br />communities in regard to funding. <br />Mayor Adams updated the Council on a MnDOT meeting she and Council <br />Member Malecha recently attended in St. Cloud. She noted that the three <br />major projects that remain on the table are Highway 23, Highway 25 and <br />Highway 371, in that order. She stated that Highway 371 is still about ten <br />years out; however, it could be accelerated if federal funds are received. <br />The Mayor also noted that according to MnDOT municipal consent is an <br />indefinite binding agreement by the Council and MnDOT. <br />Council Member Ryan questioned when MnDOT will begin to acquire right <br />of way. Tim Houle noted that it is usually about two years before the <br />project begins. <br />6. Planning and Zoning Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />6.1. Planning Commission Report <br />Report presented by Chuck Marohn. No Council action required. <br />6.1.A. Final Plat of Wilderness Resort Garages, Wilderness Resort Villas LLC <br />Report presented by Chuck Marohn. Chuck stated that the Planning <br />Commission has recommended approval of the final plat based on <br />findings of fact. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER NAGEL MOVED TO APPROVE THE FINAL PLAT <br />OF WILDERNESS RESORT GARAGES BASED ON THE PLANNING <br />COMMISSION'S FINDINGS OF FACT. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />6.1.6. Future Sale of Tax Forfeited Land <br />Chuck Marohn reviewed the staff report. He noted that the Planning <br />Commission reviewed a request by Crow Wing County to classify two tax- <br />
