February 25,2019 WIDSETH
Proposal for Trac Study SMITH
City of Pequot Lakes
Page 3 NOLTING
G. The first of two anticipated meetings with the City(and others as needed)will occur after
delivery of the Existing Conditions Memorandum.
The information of the memo will be presented along with initial thoughts on
changes.
This meeting will be an opportunity for the City to discuss their views of the future
study area and speciflc factors for consideration.
H. Using the information from the previous tasks, analyze the Patriot Avenue geometry from
West Lake Street on the south up to Front Street on the north.
The lane configurations will be examined to determine if changes are feasible given
the current, and projected, level of traffic.
Future traffic forecasts will be determined using a growth factor based on prior
studies and recent growth in the area. Potential improvement options and roadway
changes will be tested using these forecasts to ensure acceptable operations now
and into the future.
Options could include narrowing or reducing lanes, providing parallel or diagonal
parking, and improving walkabiliiy.
This analysis will focus on the traffic and traffic operations, knowing other factors will
need to be considered for any changes in the area.
A matrix will be developed to compare potential options based on the traffic
analyses.
I. Analyze the remaining study intersections based on their current traffic, projected traffic,
geometry, and traffic control.
The goal will be to determine if geometry or traffic control modifications are needed
or could be completed to improve the traTfic flow and increase walkability or multi-
modal friendliness.
A specific focus will be placed on the existing signal system of the Patriot Avenue/
Main Street intersection and the existing all-way Stop at the Rasmussen Road/Main
Street intersection.
A matrix may be developed to present and compare options, if multiple viable
improvements are available.
J. Prepare a Draft Final Report document with results and recommendations of the previous
tasks.
A summary graphic will be part of this report to show the recommendations for the
study area.
K. The second of finro anticipated meetings with the City(and others as needed)will occur after
the release of the Draft Final Report to discuss the results and recommendations.
This meeting will provide the City a time to discuss potential questions, comments,
and other changes that may be desired before the report is finalized.
L. Prepare a Final Report document from the comments obtained above for the City's use.
As in the Draft, a summary graphic will be part of this report to show the
recommendations for the study area.
N:UNarketing DeptProposals\00 Letter Proposals2019 Letter ProposaflPequot Lakes-13-Draft for Traffic Study.docx
