City Council Minutes �', <br /> October 2, 2018 � <br /> Page 4 of 10 , <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 18- <br /> 26 TO ACQUIRE OUTLOT A, BRANCHES FOR DIRECT SALE IN THE <br /> AMOUNT OF $2,679.25 TO BE PAID FOR WITH THE PUBLIC WORKS <br /> CAPITAL OUTLAY FUND. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Discussion ensued about whether the City should obtain this parcel or let <br /> Crow Wing County offer it for sale. <br /> Council Member Swanson stated she sees a lot of people using this <br /> access and questioned if it could be an easement. <br /> Nancy Malecha asked Tim Houle if he could give an explanation of what <br /> an easement is. <br /> Tim Houle stated an easement would be a right of access but does not <br /> give other rights as property ownership would and added that he wasn't <br /> sure if it would be possible at this time to obtain the property from the <br /> County as an easement. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 6.5. PlanninA Commission Apqointment <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPOINT LAURA <br /> LARSON TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION WITH A TERM ENDING <br /> ON DECEMBER 31, 2019. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. , <br /> 7. Fire Report <br /> The August 2018 Fire Department Operations Report was received by <br /> Council. <br /> 7.1. ReQuest to Hire FirefiAhter <br /> Tom Nelson requested the hiring of Brad McGuire as a Firefighter. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE HIRING OF <br /> BRAD MCGUIRE AS A FIREFIGHTER. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Akerson inquired if there would be a conflict since he is <br /> also a firefighter for the City of Nisswa Fire Department.
