Renting their property may be the only way they can enjoy a lake property. <br /> Jonathan Yahn, 2���o West Twin Lake Drive and Greg Gerhartz, 2�022 West Twin Lake <br /> Drive- Mr.Yahn stated he is attending as a property owner and not as the President of <br /> the West Twin Lake Association. There are two properties south of his that are being <br /> rented. Renting property does fundamentally change the experience of living in the lake <br /> country. Renters use the property hard. It is important for the Planning Commission to <br /> consider whether it is worth thoroughly investigating an ordinance that is fair and <br /> enforceable. Mr. Gerhartz stated it would be helpful to have a contact name and phone <br /> number if there are issues. <br /> Vice-Chair Wallin asked Mr.Yahn if the Lake Association had a policy regarding short- <br /> term rental that the City could bolster with their ordinance. Mr.Yahn stated that lake , <br /> associations have no power to enact such policies or enforcement. This item is on their <br /> agenda for their annual meeting this coming Saturday. The Lake Association can make I <br /> recommendations to the City. I <br /> Mayor Adams stated she would be comfortable knowing that if she were to rent her I <br /> property, she would need to go to the City and get a permit, follow the rules such as no � <br /> fire pit in the lake setback, etc. It is important to inform the City Council that we have I <br /> some people with concerns and we need to research this. � <br /> Chair Hallan stated the Planning Commission needs to give direction to Staff. Does �� <br /> Staff contact the 51ake associations for input? Do we contact the Chamber? I <br /> i <br /> Planning Commission Member Leckband stated this needs to be addressed fairly, define <br /> lease, regulate it, permit it,but we are going to give you more than 4leases per year. <br /> There needs to be give and take from both sides. <br /> Planning Commission Member Wilson agreed and stated if you are generating income, <br /> you need a business license. <br /> Vice-Chair Wallin stated it is not well defined. <br /> � <br /> Planning Commission Member Birch stated we need to take a look at how to regulate <br /> without it being a burden to the City to enforce. Vacation rentals are a resource to the <br /> community. i <br /> Planning Commission Member Norton concurred. <br /> Staff was directed to include this matter on the July Agenda.
