Park Commission Minutes May 6, 2010 Page 2 ------------------- - - - - -- COLLECTED. COMMISSIONER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. It was the consensus of the Commissioners to request the Echo to publish an article on this subject and to thank Mr. Salfisberg and all other donors in the article. 4. Playground Equipment at Gildner Park The Clerk informed the Commissioners that the Council authorized the use of park dedication funds to complete Gildner Park. COMMISSIONER JURCHEN MOVED TO PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. COMMISSIONER CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. Commissioner DenHartog suggested using the old platform that was used for the Paul Bunyan Chair at Bobber Park. The commissioners concurred. 5. Paul Bunvan Chair Pete reported that he did not have any luck in trying to find out what product was used to stain the chair. The Commissioners suggested asking Bob Peterson from Thurlow Hardware to take a look at the chair to see if he would have any ideas. The chair is in poor shape and needs to be refinished. 6. Chokecherry Trees Cathy Malecha stated that 110 Chokecherry Trees have been sold. The Commission Members concurred that more trees had to be sold. Mike Loven asked where the unsold trees should be planted and requested ideas on where to plant the donated trees. The Commission asked where the City was with proclaiming Pequot Lakes as the Chokecherry Capitol of the State. It was suggested that this be put on the next Council agenda for consideration. 7. Park Brochures The Commissioners thanked Jamie and his wife for the work on the brochures. It was suggested that we place these in area restaurants, resorts, and the Chamber of Commerce. 8.
