Park Commission Minutes May 6, 2010 Page 3 "I—, ------------------- - - - - -- Commissioner Johnson explained that the Trailside Park Playground Committee met and has recommended an area for the playground. He noted that the area is located off of Government Drive and Oriole Street and is 25 X 24 feet in size. The committee felt this was a good area for a playground as it was flat and does need to be fenced. He stated that the area by the Chamber building does not work due to the number of events held on that side of the park. The Commission discussed this and did not feel that the location was good as it was in close vicinity to Drew's Garden and the Veterans' Memorial and further that it would destroy the sod. The Commission felt that it would be best to finish the projects they are currently working on (Gildner Park, Band Shell, Cole Memorial Building Benches, flowers and plantings at the Cole Memorial Building and flowers at Trailside Park) prior to taking on a new project at this time. Chair Tweed asked if the Commission would consider a dog park. The Commission did not feel that this would work as the Park is not large enough to have an area for dogs. Mike Loven questioned where to place the two park benches at the Cole Memorial Building. It was suggested that a benches be placed on each side of the entrance to Cole Memorial Building. Chair Tweed stated that the Women's Club benches are showing a lot of wear and look unsightly. 9. Adjournment There being no further business, COMMISSIONER JOHNSON MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.
