EDC Minutes <br /> April 17, 2018 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Discussion ensued regarding what the process will be to determine the <br /> costs throughout the development and what is the role of the Economic <br /> Development Commission. <br /> Sheila Haverkamp suggested the City be more methodical in how the lots <br /> are sold and suggested a purchase agreement be drawn up to accomplish <br /> a better retum on investment and prevent undeveloped lots. <br /> Nancy Malecha stated there is a book for the Business Park that should <br /> be looked at and updated. Chair Jurchen suggested it should be looked at <br /> in June. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0 <br /> Commissioner Lindholm thanked Nancy Malecha and Randy Loukota for <br /> attending the School Board meeting in April to discuss the concept of <br /> collaborating with the City on the recreational space at the south end of <br /> the Business Park. <br /> 4. Broadband/Fiber Optic Update <br /> Chair Jurchen stated he met with Bill Coleman and discussed the <br /> importance of the communication process between the utility companies <br /> and their customers and also discussed the open ground policy for fiber <br /> and other utilities. <br /> Bob Perkins stated TDS has added another customer on fiber in the <br /> Business Park and have several projects they are working on. Mr. Perkins <br /> suggested the City partner up with the utility companies to come up with a <br /> plan for providing pathways for each of the utilities infrastructure. <br /> 5. Comprehensive Plan Update-Housinq & Economic Development Sections <br /> Housinc� <br /> Chris Monroe noted there wasn't any reference to work force housing. <br /> Commissioner Clement stated that she has heard from finro different <br /> families in the past couple weeks that had looked for housing in this area <br /> but moved elsewhere due to higher property taxes in Pequot Lakes. <br /> Commissioner Rieck stated she believes there is a lack of a certain quality <br /> of housing available in Pequot Lakes. <br />
