EDC Minutes <br /> April 17, 2018 <br /> Page 3 of 4 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> Nancy Malecha noted that the Council had a special meeting in January <br /> and a Work Plan was laid out for all of the Departments and under the <br /> Planning Commissions goals for 2018 there is a rehabilitation plan for <br /> existing homes, a target list of redevelopment properties and to improve <br /> substandard housing. <br /> Economic Development <br /> Sheila Haverkamp explained that she had lots of challenges with the <br /> Comp Plan and wanted to scrap the whole thing. Ms. Haverkamp stated <br /> that the Comp Plan needs to be more positive and sent a rewrite of it to <br /> Dawn Bittner. <br /> Discussion ensued regarding what a Comp Plan is and what kind of <br /> information should be included in it and the importance for the City to have <br /> a Comp Plan in place. <br /> 6. Thrivinq Communities Initiative Update <br /> Commissioner Lindholm gave an update on the Patriot Foundation event <br /> that will be held on May 18 in Breezy Point. <br /> Chair Jurchen stated The Heart of the Good Life logo and trademark is still <br /> in the process of receiving federal registry approval. <br /> Chris Monroe stated the sign committee has met finrice and have put <br /> together a recommendation for the Council. Ms. Monroe has drafted a <br /> letter regarding the funding of a temporary sign that will be sent out to <br /> businesses once it is complete. <br /> A consensus of the EDC agreed to contribute $500 toward the support of <br /> a temporary sign. <br /> 7. School Update <br /> Commissioner Lindholm stated the Spring sports have been temporarily <br /> cancelled due to weather. <br /> 8. Chamber Update <br /> Chris Monroe gave an update on the Business of the Year information, the <br /> rescheduling of the Special Council Meeting and a customer service <br /> seminar in Breezy Point on May 7. <br />
