� EDC Minutes <br /> Mazch 20, 2018 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> j Laura Leckband inquired why the EDC is focusing on expanding the <br /> Busmess Park and why it is such a priority. Chair Jurchen stated <br /> � development can take many years and there may be a prospect. The <br /> EDC is also looking at expanding the tax base of the City. Council <br /> ' Member Pederson stated this is a proactive approach. <br /> 4. Broadband/Fiber Optic Uadate <br /> Bob Perkins reported he mapped the locations and reviewed trouble <br /> reports. The majority of the businesses fell within the City. Most intemet <br /> troubles is within the premise and could be related to the computer. <br /> 5. Thrivina Communities Initiative Update <br /> Chair Jurchen reported the Quality of Life Task Force is working on the <br /> park improvements, the Economy Task Force is looking at signage and <br /> the Workforce Task Force is taking place in the School. <br /> 6. School Uodate <br /> Commissioner Lindholm reported they have teachers participating in an <br /> extemal partnership over the summer spending time with businesses to <br /> obtain knowledge they can pass on to their students. NJPA has made this <br /> available through a grant. <br /> Seven students are working on intemship programs. Amy Sjoblad is the <br /> Career Advisor. This is a result of the Thriving Community discussions. <br /> The Job Fair is this week which is a partnership with the Chamber to <br /> provide an opportunity for businesses to hire kids for the summer. Thirty- <br /> two businesses will participate. <br /> Intenriews took place for the Communications Manager position. Katie <br /> Wasserman was hired. <br /> 7. Chamber Uadate <br /> Ch�is Monroe stated she is very excited about the Job Fair and hopes it <br /> will continue for many years. <br /> There will be a Special Meeting of the City Council with the business <br /> community to discuss the Trailside Park improvements. There is some <br /> concem with the businesses how that all came about and this will give <br /> them the opportunity to ask questions and move forward. <br />
