City Council Minutes <br /> February 5,2018 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> The January 2018 Water/Wastewater Report was received by Council. <br /> 9.1. Consider Bids for Maintenance Facility Project <br /> Tim Houle presented the bids for the Maintenance Facility Project and <br /> recommended the Council approve the low bid received from Boser <br /> Construction. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO AWARD THE <br /> CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE PEQUOT LAKES <br /> MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT GARAGE TO BOSER <br /> CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR THEIR LUMP SUM BID OF $894,000 WITH <br /> NO ALTERNATE 1 DEDUCTION FOR THE IN-FLOOR HYDRONIC <br /> HEAT SYSTEM. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. <br /> Council Member Akerson questioned why the City would go with the <br /> lowest bid versus considering a local contracfior. Mr. Houle explained that <br /> the bidding documents would need to be set up as such to include other <br /> requirements that would be ranked, categorized, and/or scored, and the <br /> City's bidding documents did not contain these requirements. <br /> Nancy Malecha reviewed the City projects worksheet with the Council. <br /> Ms. Malecha noted that the annua( payback amount for the Maintenance <br /> Facility Project is included in the 2018 budget and she discussed the <br /> future budgetary impacts of potential projects. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON OPPOSED. <br /> 9.2. Consider Quotes for Salt Storage Shed <br /> Tim Houle presented the quotes for the Salt Storage Shed Project and <br /> recommended the project be awarded to Greystone Construction. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO AWARD THE <br /> CONSTRUCTION OF THE SALT STORAGE SHED TO GREYSTONE <br /> CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $77,912. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Akerson inquired as to why we are awarding it to the <br /> company with a higher quote. Mr. Houle explained it was difficult to <br /> compare these quotes as Greystone's quote was all inclusive and <br />
