City Council Minutes February 5,2018 Page 4 of 6 ----------------------------- The January 2018 Water/Wastewater Report was received by Council. 9.1. Consider Bids for Maintenance Facility Project Tim Houle presented the bids for the Maintenance Facility Project and recommended the Council approve the low bid received from Boser Construction. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO AWARD THE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE PEQUOT LAKES MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT GARAGE TO BOSER CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR THEIR LUMP SUM BID OF $894,000 WITH NO ALTERNATE 1 DEDUCTION FOR THE IN-FLOOR HYDRONIC HEAT SYSTEM. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Akerson questioned why the City would go with the lowest bid versus considering a local contracfior. Mr. Houle explained that the bidding documents would need to be set up as such to include other requirements that would be ranked, categorized, and/or scored, and the City's bidding documents did not contain these requirements. Nancy Malecha reviewed the City projects worksheet with the Council. Ms. Malecha noted that the annua( payback amount for the Maintenance Facility Project is included in the 2018 budget and she discussed the future budgetary impacts of potential projects. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON OPPOSED. 9.2. Consider Quotes for Salt Storage Shed Tim Houle presented the quotes for the Salt Storage Shed Project and recommended the project be awarded to Greystone Construction. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO AWARD THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE SALT STORAGE SHED TO GREYSTONE CONSTRUCTION IN THE AMOUNT OF $77,912. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Akerson inquired as to why we are awarding it to the company with a higher quote. Mr. Houle explained it was difficult to compare these quotes as Greystone's quote was all inclusive and
