City Council Minutes <br />March 2, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 5 <br />-------------------- - - - - -- <br />AMOUNT FOR RADIOS AND AN APPROXIMATE $100 PAYMENT FOR <br />THE GRANT WRITER WITH THE MONEY TO COME FROM THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT BUDGET. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3 -0. <br />7.3. Fitness Room <br />The Fire Chief explained that the Fire and Police Departments have <br />submitted a request to use a portion of the City Hall building for a fitness <br />room. The fire department presented a memo on the request. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO PROCEED WITH THE <br />RENOVATIONS FOR THE FITNESS ROOM. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Ryan stated that there would be no use of the room <br />during the Council meetings and Planning Commission meetings. He also <br />noted that this would be reviewed in one year to see if it is working out. <br />MOTION CARRIED 3 -0. <br />8. Police Chief Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />9. Public Works <br />9.1. WaterNVastewater Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />9.2. Request for Speed Study <br />The Mayor explained that Oppidan has asked the City to request a speed <br />study on TH 371 from Pillsbury Street to the SuperValu property. The <br />request is to reduce the speed from 55 mph to 35 mph from Pillsbury <br />Street north to the Gloria Dei Church property where the speed limit <br />currently is 35 mph. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO SEND A LETTER TO MNDOT <br />REQUESTING THAT A SPEED STUDY BE CONDUCTED ON TH 371 <br />TO CONSIDER REDUCING THE 55 MPH SPEED TO 35 MPH ON TH <br />371 BEGINNING AT A POINT NORTH OF GLORIA DEI (WHERE THE <br />`— SPEED LIMIT IS CURRENTLY SET AT 35 MPH) TO A POINT SOUTH <br />
