Cell Phone Policy <br />Page 3 <br />EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES <br />Employees receiving a City -owned cell phone or receiving a cell phone stipend are <br />expected to: <br />Keep their cell phones turned on during their designated working and on -call <br />hours to assure they can be reached. <br />2. Retrieve messages on voice mail if telephone calls are missed on the cell phone. <br />3. Ensure cell phone use does not provide a distraction to the employee or others <br />during work hours (this includes setting the cell phone to a silent alert mode <br />during meetings and other times that an interruption is undesirable). <br />4. Care for the equipment in a responsible manner and take appropriate precautions <br />to prevent theft, damage and vandalism. In the event a City -owned cell phone is <br />lost or stolen, the employee is responsible for reporting it to their supervisor as <br />soon as possible. <br />5. Provide adequate security for the phone to prevent unauthorized users from <br />finding client/work- related telephone numbers stored in the cell phone memory. It <br />is recommended that confidential or non - published numbers not be stored in <br />speed -dial function of the cell phone. <br />L <br />Employees receiving a cell phone stipend are expected to: <br />1. Have the ability to access the employee's City e -mail from the cell phone, if the <br />employee is a Police Officer and has a smart phone. <br />2. Make the cell phone number public as long as the cell phone holder is an <br />employee of the City of Pequot Lakes. <br />3. Procure and maintain cellular service from a reliable carrier who provides service <br />in the City of Pequot Lakes area. <br />4. Provide documentation in a manner prescribed by the City Clerk's Office to <br />activate and maintain monthly stipend payments. <br />5. Notify the City Clerk within five (5) business days of the cellular service being <br />disconnected. <br />6. Limit personal calls, incoming and outgoing, during work hours so as not to <br />interfere with City business or the performance of the employee's job. <br />7. Purchase, replace, or repair cellular phone device. <br />
