Citv of Pequot Lakes Citv of Pequot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Acceptable Use Policy for Computer, Effective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Network Systems and Telephone <br /> Effective Date(s)of Amendment(s): <br /> SECTION 19 ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY FOR CELLULAR TELEPHONE, COMPUTER, <br /> AND NETWORK SYSTEMS <br /> Employees are required to check and respond to their e-mail as well as change/update their <br /> telephone voice-mail message and respond to such messages, as applicable and necessary to <br /> carry out their duties as City employees in a prompt and appropriate manner, including providing <br /> notice of vacation and other leaves. <br /> 19.1 Use of Cellular Telephone <br /> This policy is intended to define acceptable and unacceptable uses of cellular telephones. Its <br /> application is to insure cellular phone usage is consistent with the best interest of the City <br /> without unnecessary restriction of employees in the conduct of their duties. This policy will be <br /> implemented to prevent the improper use or abuse of cellular phones and to ensure that City <br /> employees exercise the highest standards of propriety in their use. <br /> 19.1.1 City Issued Cellular Telephones <br /> City issued cellular telephones are City equipment and intended for the use of City <br /> employees in the conduct of their work for the City. Supervisors are responsible for the <br /> cellular telephones assigned to their employees and will exercise discretion in their use. <br /> The City reserves the right to inspect any data, emails, social media content, files,settings <br /> or any other aspect or access made by a City-owned cellular telephone and will do so on <br /> an as needed basis as determined by the City Administrator. <br /> Employees must care for the equipment in a responsible manner and take appropriate <br /> precautions to prevent theft, damage and vandalism. In the event a City-owned cell phone <br /> is lost or stolen,the employee is responsible for reporting it to their supervisor as soon as <br /> possible. <br /> The City recognizesthat some personal use of City-owned cellular telephones has and will <br /> occur. Some controls are necessary, however,to protect the City's equipment and to <br /> prevent abuse of this privilege. <br /> • Only City employees may use City-owned equipment. Family members or <br /> friends of employees are not allowed to use City equipment or technology <br /> resources. <br /> • Personal use must take place during non-work hours (breaks, lunch hour, before or <br /> after work). Personal use should never preempt work use. <br /> • Reasonable use of City cellular telephones for personal communications is allowable, <br /> 59 <br />
