City of Pequot Lakes Citv of Pequot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Work Rules and Conduct Effective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Effective Date(s)of Amendment(s): <br /> F. Holding a direct or indirect financial interest which is incompatible with the <br /> proper discharge of the person's official duties or which would tend to impair the <br /> person's independent judgment or action in the performance of his official <br /> duties. A financial interest includes ownership of stocks, bonds, notes or other <br /> securities; <br /> G. Having a direct or indirect personal interest which is incompatible with the <br /> proper discharge of the person's official duties or which would tend to impair <br /> the person's independent judgment or action in the perFormance of his official <br /> duties; <br /> H. Use of confidential information, obtained as a result of public position,for <br /> personal gain; <br /> I. Holding investments which will or may interFere with the proper discharge of <br /> public duty; <br /> J. Representation for profit of private interests before the City;or <br /> K. Participation as an employee in a City transaction in which the person has a <br /> direct or indirect financial or other personal interest. <br /> 17.5.3 Enforcement <br /> A violation of this policy shall be grounds for disciplinary action. Nothing contained herein <br /> shall be construed as preventing prosecution under applicable state or federal laws. <br /> 17.6 Solicitations <br /> The City prohibits solicitation and distribution on its premises or through work mail by non- <br /> employees and to permit solicitation and distribution by employees only as outlined below: <br /> A. Solicitation and distribution are limited on City premises because,when left <br /> unrestricted,such activities can interfere with the normal operations, can be <br /> detrimental to efFiciency, and be annoying, and can pose a threat to security. <br /> B. The City Administrator is responsible for administering this policy and for enforcing its <br /> provision. <br /> C. Persons who are not employed by the City are prohibited from soliciting funds or <br /> signatures,conducting membership drives, posting, distributing literature or gifts, <br /> offering to sell or to purchase merchandise or services, (except by representative of <br /> suppliers properly identified), or engaging in any other solicitation, distribution, or <br /> 52 <br />
