C�of Pequot Lakes Citv of Peauot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Work Rules and Conduct EfFective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Effective Date(s)of Amendment(s): <br /> gifts and services their employees are receiving. <br /> From these reviews,the City Council will develop policies and guidelines to ensure that <br /> this exemption is being applied consistently and in keeping with the spirit and intent of <br /> this policy. <br /> Disposition of gifts:Any gift not authorized by this subdivision may be returned to the <br /> donor or transmitted to the City Clerk/Treasurer or turned over to the City to be used by <br /> the City or to be sold,with the proceeds of such sale deposited into the general fund of <br /> the City. The City Clerk/Treasurer shall be notified within seven (7) days of the receipt of <br /> any non-monetary property not authorized by this subdivision. <br /> More restrictive measures: Department heads may adopt more restrictive measures dealing <br /> with the definition of the word "gift" and prohibitions on the acceptance of gifts. Such <br /> measures must be in writing and must be approved by the City Administrator. <br /> 17.5.2 Other Conflicts Prohibited <br /> No employee shall engage in any other conflict of interest. For example, employees <br /> are prohibited from engaging in the following conflicts of interest: <br /> A. Use or attempted use of the employee's official position to secure benefits, <br /> privileges, exemptions or advantages for the employee or the employee's <br /> immediate family or an organization with which the employee is associated which <br /> are different from those available to the general public; <br /> B. Acceptance of other employment or contractual relationship that will affect <br /> the employee's independence of judgment in the exercise of official duties; <br /> C. Actions as an agent or attorney in any action or matter pending before the <br /> employing City except in the proper discharge of ofFicial duties or on the <br /> employee's behalf; <br /> D. The solicitation of a financial agreement for the employee or entity other than the <br /> City when the City is currently engaged in the provision of the services which are the <br /> subject of the agreement or where the City has expressed an intention to engage in <br /> competition for the provision of the services; unless the City waives this clause; <br /> E. Engaging in a business or transaction which is incompatible with the proper <br /> discharge of the person's ofFicial duties or which would tend to impair the person's <br /> independent judgment or action in the performance of his or her official duties; <br /> 51 <br />
