Citv of Pequot Lakes Citv of Pequot Lakes Personnel Policies <br /> Title: Definitions Effective Date: [date adopted] <br /> Effective Date(s)of Amendment(s): <br /> SECTION 2 DEFINITIONS <br /> 2.1 Definitions <br /> The following words and terms shall be defined as follows for the purposes of these personnel <br /> policies. <br /> Benefits: Privileges granted to eligible employees in the form of paid leave and/or insurance <br /> coverage. <br /> Demotion:The movement of an employee from one job class to another within the City,where <br /> the maximum salary for the new position is lower than that of the employee's former position. <br /> Direct Deaosit:As permitted by state law, all City employees whosestartdateofemployment <br /> withtheGtyisonorafterJanuary1,2014are required to participate in direct deposit. <br /> Emplovee:An individual who has successfully completed all stages of the selection process <br /> including the training period. <br /> Exempt Emplovee: Employees who are not covered by the overtime provisions of the federal or <br /> state Fair Labor Standards Act. <br /> Fiscal Year:The period from January 1 to December 31. <br /> Full-time Emplovee: Employees who are required to work forty(40)or more hours per week <br /> year-round in an ongoing position. <br /> Part-Time Emplovee: Employees who are required to work 20 hours or more, but less than <br /> forty(40) hours per week year-round in an ongoing position. <br /> Pav Period:A fourteen (14) day period beginning at 12:00 a.m. (midnight) on Monday <br /> through 11:59 p.m. on Sunday,fourteen (14) days later. <br /> PERA (Public Emplovees Retirement Associationl: Statewide pension program in which all <br /> City employees meeting program requirements must participate in accordance with <br /> Minnesota law.
