The consensus of the Council agreed to direct the EDC to obtain a few more proposals and review that the threshold of internet speed is set appropriately for potential DEED grants. 10.2. TCI Community Slogan Nancy Malecha explained the recommendation from the TCI Steering Committee is to have the community slogan be "The Heart of the Good Life" and allow for its registration on State and/or Federal registries. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO APPROVE THE PEQUOT LAKES COMMUNITY SLOGAN "THE HEART OF THE GOOD LIFE" AND IT'S REGISTRATION ON STATE AND/OR FEDERAL REGISTRIES. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 10.3. Mayo Lake Association Request Nancy Malecha explained that she received a request from the Mayo Lake Association for a contribution from the City for weed control on Mayo Lake. Ms. Malecha informed the Council that the City had donated $150 in 2013 and 2015 and requested that the City contribute the same amount to be paid from the Park Department. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON MOVED TO APPROVE A CONTRIBUTION OF $150 TO THE MAYO LAKE ASSOCIATION FOR WEED CONTROL TO BE FUNDED FROM THE PARK DEPARTMENT. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 10.4 Park Commission Appointment Nancy Malecha informed the Council there is presently one vacancy on the Park Commission and Barbara Sjoblad has submitted her application to fill this vacancy for a partial term expiring on December 31, 2017. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPOINT BARBARA SJOBLAD TO THE PARK COMMISSION FOR A PARTIAL TERM EXPIRING ON DECEMBER 31, 2017. COUNCIL MEMBER SWANSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 10.5.
