Mike Loven informed the Council on the water and sewer lines currently in <br /> this quadrant as well as storm sewer issues. <br /> Council discussion ensued regarding improvements to this street quadrant <br /> consisting of sidewalks, trails, curbing, gutters, storm sewer catch basins, <br /> water and sewer infrastructure upgrades, potential roundabouts, pedestrian <br /> crossings, and traffic flow. <br /> The consensus of the Council agreed to move forward with the following <br /> potential improvements to the street quadrant consisting of Old Highway <br /> 371, South Washington Avenue, Government Drive, East Woodman Street, <br /> and East Butler Street and directed the City Engineer to determine <br /> estimated costs of these improvements that the City can utilize for bonding <br /> purposes. <br /> • East Woodman Street—Sidewalk and bike trail on the south side. Curb and <br /> gutter along both sides of the street. Decorative lighting. <br /> • Old Highway 371 north of East Woodman Street—Sidewalk on the east <br /> side along with curb and gutter. Tip all the pavement to the east so we do <br /> not need curb and gutter on the west side. Add parallel parking to both <br /> sides. <br /> • East Butler Street—No sidewalk. <br /> • South Washington Avenue— No sidewalk. Decorative lighting on the first <br /> block to East Butler Street. Two-way street. Replace sanitary sewer <br /> infrastructure. Curb and gutter and diagonal parking on both sides. <br /> • Government Drive (south end)—Sidewalk on the east side. Continue curb <br /> and gutter on the east side and a bituminous curb on the west side. Add <br /> parking. <br /> • Main Street (County Road 11)—Sidewalk on the south side from <br /> Government Drive to the stoplight. <br /> • Connect the Pequot Lakes Chamber Building to City sewer services. <br /> • Install storm sewer infrastructure within the quadrant as needed. <br /> • Street improvements within the quadrant. <br /> Tim Houle noted that Safe Routes to Schools and DNR grants might be <br /> potential funding sources for the City to consider in collaboration with the <br /> Pequot Lakes School District and the Trailside Park master plan. <br /> An excerpt from the March 7 Council Meeting are included: <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> David Kennedy, 29064 Voyagers Pass, Pequot Lakes, addressed the <br /> Council. Mr. Kennedy spoke to the proposed amendment to the lot size in <br /> the transitional residential zone. He noted that this change would also <br /> decrease the minimum lot size for a non metes and bounds subdivision. Mr. <br /> Kennedy further noted that the proposed change to the future land use map <br /> April 20, 2017 Staff Report Page 3 <br />
