COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />The City Attorney noted that he would forward a copy of the summary <br />publication to the Council Members prior to publication. <br />5.5. Consider New Cell Phone Policy <br />The Clerk presented the draft cell phone policy. She explained that the <br />City's existing policy does not meet all of the IRS standards. <br />The Clerk explained that the draft policy allows two separate options for <br />employees — Option 1 is a city cell phone used for business use only — <br />and Option 2 is an employee -owned cell phone and service plan with the <br />employee receiving a monthly stipend to compensate the employee for <br />`- City work - related use of their personal phone. <br />The Clerk stated that if the cell phone policy is adopted, the existing <br />Technology Policy will have to be amended. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE CELL <br />PHONE POLICY. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AMEND THE <br />TECHNOLOGY POLICY BY DELETING THE SECTION REFERRING TO <br />CELL PHONE. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />5.6. Civil Defense <br />Chief Klang stated that we are lacking a siren at Highway 371 and West <br />Twin Lake Road. He explained that there is about $7,000 in the capital <br />outlay carryover budget for the purchase of a siren. The cost of a siren is <br />about $15,000 to $17,000. <br />The Mayor suggested using the money that the City received from the <br />L Cable Commission to purchase the siren.
