It was the consensus of the Council to delay in this decision until the City Council sees the proposals for upgrading the web site and for video streaming the Council Meetings. The Council also requested the Chief to get two quotes for a siren. 6.1. Preliminary 2012 Budgets 6.2. Set Preliminary 2012 Tax Levies The Clerk noted that the budget amendments requested by Council have been made. The amendments reflect an increase 5.98% to the 2011 tax levy. She also noted that the 2012 Preliminary Budget reflects the amendments made by Council at the August Council meeting. COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 11- 17 SETTING THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES PRELIMINARY 2012 TAX LEVIES AS FOLLOWS: • GENERAL FUND PROPERTY TAX LEVY - $1,573,056 • TAX ABATEMENT LEVY — PEQUOT SUPERVALU - $ 28,526 HRA SPECIAL LEVY - $ 38,250 COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Ryan and Council Member Akerson stated they would not vote for the motion unless it reflected a 0% increase. Mayor Adams proposed to appoint a committee to work on reducing the preliminary levy. Council Member Ryan stated he would sit on the committee if the Council voted for a 0% increase in the preliminary levy. The Mayor appointed herself, Council Member Malecha, the City Clerk and the Finance Director /Deputy City Clerk to sit on the committee. MOTION CARRIED 3 -2. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN AND COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. 6.3. Set Meeting Date for Public Input on Budget COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO HOLD A PUBLIC MEETING FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING INPUT FROM THE `-- PUBLIC ON THE CITY BUDGET AND LEVY ON DECEMBER 6, 2011,
