City Council Minutes <br />September 6, 2011 <br />Page 6 <br />----------------------------- - - - - -- <br />enough money from the Cable funds to upgrade the web site, to video <br />tape the Council meetings and to help pay for the siren. <br />It was the consensus of the Council to delay in this decision until the City <br />Council sees the proposals for upgrading the web site and for video <br />streaming the Council Meetings. The Council also requested the Chief to <br />get two quotes for a siren. <br />6.1. Preliminary 2012 Budgets <br />6.2. Set Preliminary 2012 Tax Levies <br />The Clerk noted that the budget amendments requested by Council have <br />been made. The amendments reflect an increase 5.98% to the 2011 tax <br />levy. She also noted that the 2012 Preliminary Budget reflects the <br />amendments made by Council at the August Council meeting. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 11- <br />17 SETTING THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES PRELIMINARY 2012 TAX <br />LEVIES AS FOLLOWS: <br />• GENERAL FUND PROPERTY TAX LEVY - $1,573,056 <br />• TAX ABATEMENT LEVY — PEQUOT SUPERVALU - $ 28,526 <br />HRA SPECIAL LEVY - $ 38,250 <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Ryan and Council Member Akerson stated they would <br />not vote for the motion unless it reflected a 0% increase. Mayor Adams <br />proposed to appoint a committee to work on reducing the preliminary levy. <br />Council Member Ryan stated he would sit on the committee if the Council <br />voted for a 0% increase in the preliminary levy. The Mayor appointed <br />herself, Council Member Malecha, the City Clerk and the Finance <br />Director /Deputy City Clerk to sit on the committee. <br />MOTION CARRIED 3 -2. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN AND COUNCIL <br />MEMBER AKERSON VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. <br />6.3. Set Meeting Date for Public Input on Budget <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO HOLD A PUBLIC <br />MEETING FOR THE PURPOSE OF ALLOWING INPUT FROM THE <br />`-- PUBLIC ON THE CITY BUDGET AND LEVY ON DECEMBER 6, 2011, <br />
