City Council Minutes July 5, 2011 Page 5 11.1. Government Drive Review Tim Houle updated the Council on the Government Drive concept. He explained that the committee has provided a concept but there is no detailed design at this point. Tim distributed a handout of the concept and requested the Council to review the information and provide direction at the August 2nd Council meeting. He noted that if the Council wants a work session with the focus group, they should contact the Mayor to schedule the meeting. 11.2. Joint Meeting with MnDOT, CWC, and City on Road Improvements Tim Houle explained that a meeting was held to discuss projects that will be done by MnDOT and Crow Wing County in 2012. He noted that the County is considering a mill and overlay on County Road 11. He noted that the County is requesting that the Council concur with the project and `- in the future they will require municipal consent for this project. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO INFORM CROW WING COUNTY THAT THE COUNCIL CONCURS WITH THE COUNTY ROAD 11 MILL AND OVERLAY PROJECT. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. Council discussion pursued regarding the timing of the project. The Council noted its concern that the project does not interfere with the businesses during the prime tourist season. The Council noted that the County should be aware of the Council's concern regarding the timing of the project. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. David Kennedy spoke about parking issues on Government Drive. Mr. Kennedy stated that if Government drive does not move forward, something must be done to the road. He suggested putting gravel on the west side of Government Drive and parking lines by the scrap book store. The Council requested Mike Loven to review this issue and put it on the August Council meeting for discussion. `.- 12. City Clerk's Report
