City Council Minutes <br /> December 6, 2016 <br /> Page 9 of 11 <br /> Sheila Haverkamp presented the 2017 Agreement for Professional <br /> Services from BLAEDC as well as the Agreement to Support Enhanced <br /> Economic Development Marketing Endeavors. Ms. Haverkamp explained <br /> the key recruiter program and disbursed brochures. <br /> Mayor Sjoblad questioned whether the City has received adequate <br /> development and growth from BLAEDC's services to warrant the cost of <br /> this agreement. Ms. Haverkamp explained that due to the downturn in the <br /> economy companies were not expanding or building. She illustrated <br /> businesses that BLAEDC has been involved with to locate or relocate to <br /> Pequot Lakes. Ms. Haverkamp further noted that in the near future there <br /> will be more development. <br /> Council Member Akerson questioned if the City is throwing the money <br /> away or is something going to come soon. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO ACCEPT THE 2017 <br /> AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AND THE <br /> AGREEMENT TO SUPPORT ENHANCED ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br /> MARKETING ENDEAVORS WITH BLAEDC IN THE AMOUNT OF <br /> $7,500. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 10.3. Professional Services Rate Changes <br /> Nancy Malecha informed the Council that the City received notices of <br /> hourly rate changes for professional services. Flaherty & Hood will be <br /> increasing their hourly rate from $120 to $125 per hour for general <br /> municipal matters and DJV Consulting will be increasing their hourly rate <br /> from $65 to $75 per hour. Ms. Malecha noted she does not foresee using <br /> DJV Consulting much in the future. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE <br /> HOURLY RATE CHANGES FROM FLAHERTY & HOOD, P.A. AND DJV <br /> CONSULTING. COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 10.4. 2017 Employee Wages <br /> MAYOR SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE A 1/2 STEP INCREASE <br /> (1.25%) BASED ON SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE REVIEWS, PLUS <br /> A 1.75% COLA INCREASE FOR NON-UNION EMPLOYEES IN 2017. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br />
