Pequot Lakes -Hwy 371 North
October 7, 2005
20. On the east side of the highway, the service/backage road comes off of CR 107 North on
the east side of the Paul Bunyan Trail, proceeds north with multiple private driveway
crossings of the Trail, and then heads further north(see No. 21 below).
MnDOT is responsible for all costs associated with this segment.
The connection of this service road to County Road 107 North will need input from and
coordination with the County.
21. On the east side of the highway, the service/backage road continues from the point
discussed in No. 20 above northerly along the edge of the City's wastewater treatment
plant's spray irrigation field.
The City is responsible for obtaining Minnesota Pollution Control Agency permit
modifications as well as all costs for the R/W along the City's spray irrigation field.
Even though no accesses are being closed along the highway, MnDOT has said they will
pay for a standard 32-foot wide, ditch-lined roadway(this service road will help the safety
and capacity of TH 371 by providing alternate routes for local traffic).
. As part of allowing the multiple private driveway crossings in No. 20 above, the highway
access at Derksen Road will be closed, including the crossing of the Paul Bunyan Trail at
this point.
22. For the service roads on the east and west sides, the City will not contribute to any more
roadway width/section than MnDOT will pay for as part of this project(MnDOT provides
for a 32-feet wide, ditch-lined, 10-ton roadway).
Derksen Road/Derksen Road Extended West - Morehouse Drive 10.4 miles}
23. The City has reviewed placing casing pipes under TH 371 around the intersection with
Derksen Road in the past.
Considering the present unknown nature and timing of development in this area, the City is
not yet sure whether to put in casing pipes as part of the highway project or wait to see
where development requires a crossing and jack casing pipes under the highway at some
future time.
24. On the west side of the highway, the City has never officially accepted the roadway
construction itself that was put in by the developer/property owner for the existing service
road south of Pillsbury Street.
CAMy Documents\City Clerk\HIGHWAY 371\Meetings\102505 List of Issues for City MnDOT mtg-memo.doc
