City Council Minutes Page 4 <br /> May 4, 2004 <br /> Chief Forsberg indicated that Officer Brad Gerner has submitted his <br /> resignation and will be leaving on May 13, 2004. He requested the Council <br /> to consider hiring Rich Hogan who worked for the City of Pequot Lakes as <br /> a police officer from 1990 — 1997 and was hired back to work on an <br /> emergency basis in 1999. <br /> Council Member Akerson indicated that he felt the City should go through <br /> the normal hiring process to make sure the City is getting the most <br /> qualified person for the job. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO HIRE RICH HOGAN TO <br /> FILL THE POSITION OF OFFICER BRAD GERNER WITH THE <br /> CONDITION THAT HE HAVE THE LOWEST SENIORITY IN THE <br /> DEPARTMENT, THAT HIS WAGE BE NO HIGHER THAN THE LOWEST <br /> PAID OFFICER AND THAT HE SERVE SIX MONTHS PROBATION. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Discussion pursued regarding whether the city should go through the <br /> complete application process. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER JOHNSON MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION TO <br /> REQUIRE RICH HOGAN TO COMPLETE AN EMPLOYMENT <br /> APPLICATION, THAT HE BE INTERVIEWED BY SOME MEMBERS OF <br /> THE COUNCIL, AND THAT HE GO THROUGH THE NORMAL TESTING <br /> PROCESS. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> THE AMENDMENT CARRIED 6-1. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON <br /> VOTED NAY. <br /> THE MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 10.1. Consider Bids for Street Improvement Project <br /> Mike Loven noted that the City only received one bid for the Street <br /> Improvement Project. He indicated that the projects include paving of <br /> Wilderness Road, Cullen Cove Road, Mayo Hills Road and Pequot <br /> Boulevard. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO AWARD THE BID FOR THE <br /> 2004 PAVING PROJECTS TO ANDERSON BROTHERS FOR <br /> $163,164.28. COUNCIL MEMBER JOHNSON SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br />
