• <br /> r <br /> (5) Tour of Duty. Tour of duty shall be within the City limits <br /> of Pequot Lakes at all times except to transport arrested persons <br /> to County jail or Court, or if called upon by an outside agency <br /> for emergency assistance. This does not limit the right of an <br /> officer to respond to an "officer in trouble" outside the city <br /> limits of the City of Pequot Lakes without being called by that <br /> agency to do so, nor does it limit the right of an officer to <br /> assist a motorist in trouble within a reasonable distance of <br /> the city limits of the City of Pequot Lakes, nor does it limit <br /> the right of an officer to conduct City business outside the <br /> boundaries of the City; however, all City business performed <br /> outside the City will be duly logged and the Sheriff's <br /> dispatcher shall be notified immediately. <br /> (6) Scheduling. The Chief of Police will attempt to schedule <br /> his time and the time of all the Department officers in an <br /> efficient manner to provide service to the City at a minimum <br /> cost and yet provide adequate protection and police coverage. <br /> This shall include the scheduling and coordinating of police <br /> activities in cooperation with other police agencies as <br /> approved by the Council. <br /> (a) Police Chief Hours. The Police Chief shall work a <br /> minimum of a 40 hour work week unless otherwise <br /> scheduled or directed by the Council. The Chief shall <br /> inform the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Dispatcher as well <br /> as the City Clerk of his duty schedule or any deviation <br /> from his duty schedule for events such as court <br /> appearances, with due regard for the confidentiality <br /> of this information. A written schedule shall be filed <br /> with the Sheriff's Department and the City Clerk and <br /> amendments may be filed with the Sheriff's Department <br /> and City Clerk as soon as any changes are required <br /> such as for special appearances in court. <br /> (b) Days Off. The Chief must pay due regard to his own <br /> personal needs and that of his police officers regarding <br /> time off and will from time to time report to the Council <br /> regarding his schedule and the schedule of all police <br /> officers. The schedule for part-time police officers <br /> shall be prepared on a bi-weekly basis and submitted to <br /> the City Clerk. The Chief is directed to attempt to <br /> take two full days off each week, and to notify the Crow <br /> Wing County Sheriff's Department and the City Clerk by <br /> telephone a minimum of twelve (12) hours in advance of <br /> the time when he will be off duty. The Chief will be <br /> responsible for providing the City with police protection <br /> throughout Friday and Saturday nights and early Sunday <br /> morning unless otherwise authorized pursuant to the above <br /> chain of command. <br /> 3 <br />
