� <br />City Council Minutes <br />March 1, 2011 <br />Page 6 of 11 <br />-------------------------- <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION <br />STATING THAT PAYMENT TO THE ASSISTANT CHIEFS IS SUBJECT <br />TO THE JOB DESCRIPTION BEING COMPLETED AND APPROVED <br />BY COUNCIL AND THAT PAYMENT OF THE WAGE BE CONSISTENT <br />WITH THE TIMETABLE OF THE CHIEF'S PAY. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />THE MOTION AS AMENDED CARRIED 4-0. <br />7.3. Request to Authorize Participation in Regional Radio Grant — Phase II <br />Chief Nelson requested Council authorization to participate with the <br />Brainerd Fire Department in a Regional Grant for radios and training on <br />the radios. He explained that the grant is 20% match for the City along <br />with a$100 fee for the grant writer. He stated that a rough calculation of <br />the City's cost would be $20,000. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO APPROVE THE REQUEST TO <br />PARTICIPATE WITH THE BRAINERD FIRE DEPARTMENT IN A <br />REGIONAL GRANT FOR RADIOS COMMITTING TO THE 20% MATCH <br />`— BY THE CITY AND PAYMENT OF THE GRANT FEE OF $100. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br />CARRIED 4-0. <br />8. Police Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />8.1. Police Department Positions <br />8.1.A. Job Descriptions — Police Chief and Police Serqeant <br />The City Clerk explained that a committee, which was authorized by <br />Council, has drafted job descriptions for the Police Chief and Police <br />Sergeant. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO APPROVE THE JOB <br />DESCRIPTIONS OF POLICE CHIEF AND POLICE SERGEANT. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Akerson requested the following changes to the Police <br />Chief job description: <br />� <br />
