L <br />City Council Minutes <br />March 1, 2011 <br />Page 5 of 11 <br />----------------------------- <br />The City Clerk explained that the Council has reviewed this ordinance and <br />tabled a decision until the Council has a chance to adopt the Dog <br />Ordinance. The Planning Commission is recommending approval of this <br />ordinance. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA MOVED TO REMOVE THIS FROM THE <br />TABLE. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 11- <br />01 AMENDING CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE RELATING TO ANIMAL <br />HUSBANDRY. AND COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />7. Fire Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />7.1. Request bv Bvron Township for Fire Service <br />'�-- Chief Nelson explained that the Fire Board has sent a letter of intent for <br />service from the Pequot Lakes Fire Department. Chief Nelson stated that <br />the Fire Board has determined that the distance from the fire station to <br />Byron Township is too far and that they are not interested in adding Byron <br />Township to the service area. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO <br />SEND A LETTER TO BYRON TOWNSHIP DECLINING THE <br />CONTRACT FOR FIRE SERVICE. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />7.2. Request to Pay Assistant Fire Chief's <br />Chief Nelson explained that the Fire Department is requesting <br />authorization to pay the two Assistant Fire Chiefs an amount of $900 each <br />per year plus calls and meeting pay. Chief Nelson explained that the <br />money was budgeted in the 2010 budget; however, the by-laws were not <br />yet amended to authorize this action. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE <br />PAYMENT OF $900 PER YEAR FOR EACH OF THE ASSISTANT FIRE <br />CHIEFS, PLUS CALLS AND MEETING PAY. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />\.. RYAN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />
