• <br /> 2. Jim Rice, Northern Excavating, was present to discuss the new ISTS <br /> Policy. Bud Sergent, Eric Johnson and Seth Gravdahl were also in the <br /> audience. Mr. Rice stated that 14 days notice was too long —48 hours <br /> was plenty of notice. Mr. Marohn explained the application and policy to <br /> the Commission. Mr. Rice stated that Cass County, Crow Wing County <br /> and Breezy Point only ask for 48 hours. It was determined that"As Built's" <br /> would not be acceptable in place of an inspection. After much discussion, <br /> it was agreed that the Commission and Staff would discuss this policy and <br /> it would be brought back at the next P &Z Meeting. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> 8. A. Von-Ro, Roger Hardy. <br /> Chris Robinson, Mr. Hardy's attorney, explained that Mr. Hardy had received a <br /> letter from Mr. Marohn regarding the number of RV's at Von-Ro. Mr. Marohn and <br /> Staff had met with himself and Mr. Hardy on site. He also stated that the <br /> business is operating as represented at the time of application. Some <br /> Commission members stated that it was originally represented as a repair facility, <br /> not sale. Mr. Robinson stated that Von-Ro is operating per the designs and <br /> drawings submitted. The City has not received any complaints. The main <br /> concern is the number of units, how it looks aesthetically from the highway and is <br /> this look appropriate for the neighborhood. The Commission and Mr. Robinson <br /> agreed to keep discussions open with Staff and bring back to the Commission at <br /> a later date. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> 10.A. Sign Ordinance: <br /> The Chamber of Commerce had been invited to attend and take part in a <br /> discussion regarding signs in the downtown area. Only two people from the <br /> Chamber Information Center attended. The following list indicates problems or <br /> issues: <br /> a. Too many banners; <br /> b. Quality of banners; <br /> c. Distracting — blinking signs; <br /> d. Need to maintain aesthetics; <br /> e. No off-site signs; <br /> f. Height restrictions; <br /> g. Grandfathered signs. <br /> The following list indicates what the group would like to see: <br /> a. Uncluttered landscape — limit number of signs; <br />
