The Commission will coordinate a meeting with <br /> the Chamber to discuss their concerns. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Mr. Walker was not in attendance at this time. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Polly Gundy, 3808 West Grove Street, Pequot Lakes, MN. <br /> Mrs. Gundy requested in writing an extension of her Variance at last month's <br /> meeting. Mrs. Gundy was present to explain in detail what was included in her <br /> original variance. Mr. Marohn explained to the Commission that they needed to <br /> decide whether or not to extend the variance. No Findings of Fact are <br /> necessary. The garage could be permitted over-the-counter. Interior worked has <br /> been started. The exterior work would begin over the summer. <br /> A motion was made by Karl Moon, seconded by John Derksen, to extend the <br /> Variance for six months. All members voted "aye". Motion carried. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Grant Walker was present, 28642 County Road 107, Pequot Lakes, MN. <br /> Mr. Walker explained that he operates a recycling/transfer station. His <br /> grandfather started the business in 1967, his father then ran the business and <br /> now Grant operates the business. <br /> In August a company is coming to remove the cars so he can downsize. After <br /> that he will need to collect a certain quantity of cars before they can be removed. <br /> He is doing a service for the community by processing the cars and old <br /> machinery by recycling the aluminum and parts, as well as cleaning up other junk <br /> cars in the area. He has receipts indicating the oils, anti-freeze and tires are all <br /> recycled. <br /> The complaints must be from people who think his location is the final repository, <br /> which is not the case. Staff will try to educate the general public when they <br /> complain. The natural tree barrier is better than a fence. <br /> The Commission directed Mr. Marohn to bring Crow wing County Solid Waste <br /> out to his site. Mr. Marohn will contact Mr. Walker. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br />
