CLARIFY MAXIMUM SQUARE FOOTAGE OF ACCESSORY STRUCTURES IN
THE RURAL RESIDENTIAL ZONE: Mr. Marohn pointed out that there is a
maximum in the residential zone and was wondering if that was an oversight in
the rural residential zone. After discussion, it was determined that the intent was
to restrict in the residential zone only. This should be re-addressed in
discussions of accessory structures in the new ordinance. Possibly limit the
number, not the square footage.
ADOPTION OF THE STATE BUILDING CODE: The City Council had directed
Staff to include discussion of reinstating the State building code. Mr. Marohn
explained that the Long Range Planning Commission recommend adopting it.
Discussion followed indicating that it is difficult to find reputable inspectors and
that the cost is a considerable factor. It was determined that it is a good idea,
but the City should wait until the State mandates it.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
A motion was made by Karl Moon, seconded by Cheri Seils, to approve the
Minutes as read. All members voted "aye". Motion carried.
ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
Mr. Marohn explained the April Permits and Correspondence. He also explained
the Potential Violations/Enforcement Actions as follows:
`-- 1. Roger Langenbau: He will finish the agreement and present to the
Commission for approval before signature.
2. DBA Wilderness Resort: They had applied for "tent" sites, making their
camping trailers in violation of their CUP. They will remove them after
Labor Day.
3. Virgil Dahl: Staff met with Mr. Dahl at his property. A neighbor was in the
audience and stated that his property valuation has gone down due to the
state of Mr. Dahl's property. Eight years ago Mr. Dahl only had one trailer
and now has multiple mobile homes and travel trailers, as well as the
teepees. The neighbor also questioned if Mr. Dahl is allowed to have 2
septics. Staff also stated that there were numerous animals on the
property, ducks, geese and rabbits. Staff also stated that first the County,
then Sibley Township, and now the City is attempting to work with Mr.
Dahl to remedy the situation, to no avail.
A motion was made by Karl Moon, seconded by Joe Dotty, to turn this
matter over to the City Council for action. All members voted "aye".
Motion carried.
4. Susan and Timothy Brawley: There have been no reports of erosion onto
roadway.
5. Walker Junk Yard: Discussed this with Mr. Walker.
