City Council Minutes
September 3, 2013
-----------------------------

9.3. Discussion on Roadway Turnbacks
Tim Houle stated that a committee had met to discuss the turnback of
roadways from the County. He explained that the City is considering the
turnback of 6 additional roadway miles. The Committee has requested
direction from the Council regarding whether the Council wants to accept
the turnbacks. He noted that the most pressing issue is the turnback of
Highway 371. Mr. Houle explained that there are both pros and cons in
accepting the turnback of Highway 371.
Council Member Akerson stated that it is imperative to the City to accept
the Highway 371 turnback and that the City should be looking into the
future. The Mayor stated she is in favor of accepting the turnback but
would like to see the pros and cons listed out. Council Member Pederson
noted that he had a concern with the cost of accepting the turnback and
that he is currently not in favor.
It was the consensus of the Council to request more information showing
the pros and cons and related costs.
It was also the consensus of the Council to appoint Mark Jurchen of the
Economic Development Commission and the Mayor to the Turnback
 Committee.
10. City Clerk's Office
10.1. Set December Council Meeting Date for Public Input on Levy
COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO SET THE DECEMBER 3RD
COUNCIL MEETING AT 6:30 P.M. TO RECEIVE PUBLIC INPUT ON
THE 2014 BUDGETS AND LEVY. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON
SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
10.2. Consider Switchinq Credit Card Companies
The City Clerk requested authorization to switch credit card companies
from Cardmember Services to Lakes State Bank. The current credit card
is not a corporate card and lists a city employee as being responsible for
credit card misuse or unpaid debt. The Visa card that Lakes State Bank is
offering is a corporate card and would list the City as being responsible for
unpaid debt.
COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO DISCONTINUE USE OF
THE CREDIT CARDS THROUGH CARDMEMBER SERVICE AND TO
'" APPROVE APPLICATION OF THE LAKES STATE BANK VISA CREDIT
