ABSENT: Andrew Birch and Nathan Norton. �, <br /> CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, NJPA. � <br /> ZONING SPECIALIST: Dawn Bittner. ,I <br /> � <br /> Chair Hallan called the meeting to order at 6:3o PM. ; <br /> � <br /> A motion was made by Planning Commission Member Wilson, seconded by ; <br /> Planning Commission Member Leckband,to open the Public Hearings. All <br /> members voted"aye". Motion carried. <br /> APPI.ICANr: City of Pequot Lakes <br /> Applicant requests an Ordinance Amendment Regarding Signs <br /> Chair Hallan explained this public hearing is a continuation from the May 1�meeting. <br /> Mr. Burslie explained the definition changes and the removal of Billboards from the <br /> Land Use Matrix and allowing Offsite Signs as a permitted use in the Commercial and <br /> Light Industrial zones. The City Attorney had suggested including Findings in the <br /> ordinance and they are included as part of the Purpose and Intent. The language for the <br /> Findings was taken from the City of Denver's ordinance and mirrors Pequot Lakes' <br /> quality of life and up north appeal. <br /> Mr. Burslie pointed out the criteria to allow offsite signs. The criteria for spacing <br /> included"offsite sign or billboard". Chair Hallan stated the word"billboard"is not used <br /> elsewhere in the ordinance. Mr. Burslie stated"billboard" should be stricken. <br /> Mr. Burslie indicated two comments had been received; one from the Chamber and the <br /> other from Council Member Pederson and are included in the packet. <br /> Planning Commission Member Wilson questioned the spacing. MN/DOT currently has <br /> signs along the highway and wondered if we are taking those into consideration.
