PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
PUBLIC HEARING/REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 19, 1999
The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning &Zoning Commission was
called to order by Chairman F. Martinson at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Pequot
Lakes City Hall. Present were T. Saccoman, G. Welu and F. Martinson. Absent were G.
Jenson and J. Thompson.
MOTION BY G. WELU1/21/99 AND SECONDED BY T. SACCOMAN THAT THE
MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 15, 1998 MEETING BE APPROVED AS PRESENTED.
MOTION CARRIED.
PUBLIC HEARING
The public hearing was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Chairman F. Martinson. The
purpose of the public hearing was to consider approval of the "Field of Dreams" plat.
Scott Pederson of Tall Timbers campground referred to the November 13, 1998 letter from
Patricia D. Lundy, Assistant Director of the Municipal Board. The letter stated "The
representatives of the developer and the City stated that they would be working with the
adjacent property owners and the Town to try to address their concerns as the
development plans proceed." Pederson stated that the developer has not been in touch
with him to discuss the plat. He was concerned that the development would not preserve
the "rural character" of the area.
Also present were Mr. & Mrs. Walt Simonson, who voiced concern about the school bus
routes. This concern had been previously addressed, and the exits/entrances of the plat
had been approved by the County Engineer.
Only two Outlots are within 1,000 ft. of Sibley Lake. These two outlots will be dedicated to
the City of Pequot Lakes for development of a public park.
There was discussion regarding the planting of trees on the individual lots, as well as
along a buffer strip on County Road #17.
MOTION BY T. SACCOMAN AND SECONDED BY G. WELU THAT THE PLAT BE
APPROVED SUBJECT TO LANDSCAPING REGULATIONS INCLUDING A BUFFER
STRIP OF CONIFEROUS TREES ALONG C.R. #17. MOTION CARRIED.
Landscaping regulations and approval of landscaping plans will be overseen by the City
of Pequot Lakes Park Board Tree Committee.
PLAT APPROVAL WILL BE RECOMMENDED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO
THE CITY COUNCIL ON FEBRUARY 2, 1999.
1
