ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> MINUTES <br /> NNE 17,2008 <br /> MEMBERS PRESENT: Ed Larsen, Mark Jurchen, and Justin Bolz-Andolshek <br /> MEMBERS ABSENT: Nancy Adams, Patrick Smith <br /> ALSO PRESENT: Mayor Cathy Malecha, City Clerk Sandy Peine, Sheila <br /> Haverkamp, BLADC; Chuck Marohn, Community Growth <br /> Institute; and City Engineer Tim Houle <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Ed Larsen at 8:05 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider May 20, 2008, EDC Minutes <br /> JUSTIN BOLZ-ANDOLSHEK MOVED TO APPROVE THE MAY 20, <br /> 2008,MINUTES. MARK JURCHEN SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 3. Industrial Park <br /> Chuck Marohn provided the EDC with an analysis of twelve parcels identified as <br /> having potential for industrial space in the City of Pequot Lakes. Chuck Marohn <br /> reviewed each of the parcels. Some of the issues identified with many of the <br /> properties were topography,the highway alignment affecting the property, and the <br /> zoning. Following the review,the EDC felt that the property owned by the City <br /> (spray irrigation land)was the most desirable property for potential park land. <br /> The EDC discussed the impact that this decision would have on the existing spray <br /> irrigation field. It was noted that a facilities plan for the wastewater would have to <br /> be done to determine the long range plan of the wastewater treatment system. <br /> The EDC discussed associated costs that would possibly be occurred if the City's <br /> land was used for an industrial park. It was noted that the City would probably <br /> still have to purchase land for spray irrigation. <br /> MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO RECOMMEND A FUTURE EXPANSION <br /> OF THE INDUSTRIAL PARK INTO PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY <br /> CURRENTLY USED FOR SPRAY IRRIGATION AND IDENTIFIED AS <br /> NUMBERS 9, 10, 11,AND 12 ON THE INDUSTRIAL PARK PROPERTY <br /> EVALUATION MAP TITLED "CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES" PROVIDED <br /> BY CHUCK MAROHN AND TO RECOMMEND THAT THE COUNCIL <br /> MOVE FORWARD WITH A FACILITIES PLAN TO STUDY THE <br />
