`-- SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br /> WEDNESDAY,AUGUST 13,2008 <br /> PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br /> Pequot Lakes: Mayor Malecha, Council Members Nagel, Ryan, Sjoblad, <br /> Oraskovich, Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Paul Sandelin, City Attorney <br /> Jenkins Township: Board Members Sharon Thurlow, Bob MacNamara, Dennis Czeck, <br /> Attorney, Tom Fitzpatrick; Patti Bullen, Township Clerk <br /> Jenkins City: Mayor Jon Lubke, Council Members Dale Daudt, Eric Haff, Gary <br /> Hart, Krista Okerman, City Clerk, Thomas Pearson, City Attorney <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> Mayor Malecha called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. She informed those <br /> present that Attorney Tom Fitzpatrick would chair the meeting. <br /> Tom Fitzpatrick welcomed all and requested introductions. Mr. Fitzpatrick then <br /> noted that the reason for the meeting was to review a draft resolution for orderly <br /> annexation prepared by a committee of the City of Pequot Lakes and a committee <br /> of Jenkins Township. <br /> Mr. Fitzpatrick reviewed the resolution paragraph by paragraph and asked for <br /> comments or concurrence that the language was acceptable. <br /> During review of the resolution,the following comments or changes were made <br /> to the resolution: <br /> • 4th WHEREAS, - change proceed with to "explore" <br /> • 7th WHEREAS, - Council Member Nagel reluctant to move forward fast due <br /> to people who feel this is moving too fast. Tom Fitzpatrick recommended <br /> keeping the language in as it assumes there will be an approval by governing <br /> bodies prior to moving forward with the process. <br /> • 2 - The date could be modified based on timing of governing bodies. <br /> • 9a. Council Member Ryan questioned if we are binding ourselves to future <br /> councils. Tom Fitzpatrick indicated he did not believe so. <br /> • 9c. Council Member Ryan questioned if we could clarify the zoning to ensure <br /> there would be no down zoning. Attorney Paul Sandelin suggested reviewing <br />
