PEQUOT LAKES
PLANNING & ZONING COMMISSION
REGULAR MEETING
SEPTEMBER 19, 2000
The regular meeting of the Pequot Lakes Planning & Zoning
Commission was called to order by Chairman F. Martinson at 6:30 p.m. in the
Council Chambers of Pequot Lakes City Hall. Present was F. Martinson, T.
Saccoman, J. Thompson and C. Clarke. Absent was G. Welu.
MOTION BY T. SACCOMAN AND SECONDED BY J. THOMPSON
THAT THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 19, 2000 MEETING BE
APPROVED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
APPROPRIATION OF WATERS PERMIT—INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT #186
The Pequot Lakes School drilled a new well for the purpose of irrigating the
ball fields on the west side of the property. The School did not contact the
City nor did they apply for the required Appropriate of Waters Permit until
after the well had been drilled.
Attending the meeting was Charles Griffin, Ernest Teie, Robert Lundquist
and Paul Dullum who all reside near the school. The concerns of the
neighbors were the depth of the well and what impact this will have on the
quality of the city water.
After much discussion, it was decided that a Resolution be made and
presented to the City Council. The Resolution would state that the Planning
Commission request that the irrigation be halted until the Independent School
District fund a complete study and report by a certified Hydrologist.
J. Thompson encouraged the audience to attend the next City Council
meeting. Mr. Thompson resides near the school as well.
A copy of the Resolution will be sent to all residents along West Lake Street.
