` SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES CITY COUNCIL <br />TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 2011 <br />PEQUOT LAKES CITY HALL <br />Members Present: Mayor Adams, Council Members Malecha, Akerson, Sjoblad, <br />and Ryan <br />Staff Present: Sandra Peine, City Clerk; Kate Petersen, Acting Chief of <br />Police <br />Call Meeting to Order <br />Mayor Adams called the meeting of the Pequot Lakes City Council to <br />order at 6:30 p.m. <br />Pledqe of Allegiance <br />Mayor Adams led with the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />Police Department Restructure <br />� Mayor Adams thanked everyone for attending. She stated that the <br />purpose of the meeting was to receive public input on the structure of the <br />City's police department. She stated that after input is received the <br />Council will form a committee to figure out the direction the City will take <br />with the Police Department. <br />Tim Keen — Jenkins Township — Mr. Keen stated that Jenkins Township <br />would like to see the Police Department promote a Chief from within the <br />organization. He indicated that the Township has been very happy with <br />Assistant Chief Kate Petersen. He suggested that if it is possible, the City <br />try to cut the number of rounds the officers make in the Township to save <br />money. <br />Mike DuBav — Jenkins Township — Mike stated that the communications <br />with the Police Department are good. He stated that Kate Petersen has <br />been available to assist the Township with their budget request for police <br />services and has helped them to develop a quarterly incident report. He <br />stated that she is more of a working chief than administrative. Mr. DuBay <br />questioned if there is a seasonal adjustment in police hours based on the <br />tourism season? <br />.._- <br />
