`
City Council Minutes
January 18, 2011
-----------------------------
Mark Jurchen — 31378 Lakeland Avenue — Mr. Jurchen suggested that
the officers double up on rush hour for traffic control.
Jim Oraskovich — 27671 C.R. 107 — Mr. Oraskovich stated that he
supports the police force as it is. He noted that it is the responsibility of
Council to provide a safe environment for the community. He further stated that this is a small town and there is a need
for small town policing with no expectation of a 24 hour department. When
there is no one on duty, there is the Sheriff's department and mutual aid.
He stated that the Chief needs to be an administrator but could also do
some street work.
Mike Davis — 3733 C.R. 17 — Mr. Davis stated that the Crow Wing County
Sheriff's office does not contract with any communities.
Mark Jurchen — 31378 Lakeside Ave. — Mr. Jurchen suggested using
mutual aid when needed and to stagger hours during weekends.
Tim Keen — 5491 C.R. 145 — Mr. Keen stated that he wants to be able to
identify with the police department which is the main reason that Jenkins
Township does not want to outsource with other cities or with the Crow
Wing County Sheriff.
Mark Jurchen — 31378 Lakeside Ave — Mr. Jurchen indicated that he
supports the local police department. He further stated that since we have
stepped up patrol we do not see near the severity of auto accidents.
Janet Wedan — 25490 E. Clark Rd. Nisswa — Ms. Wedan stated that
from working within the department for the last six years she would
