Consider April 8, 2008, EDC Minutes
MARK JURCHEN MOVED TO APPROVE THE APRIL 8,2008,
MINUTES. PATRICK SMITH SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION
CARRIED 5-0.
3. Downtown Plan
Nancy Adams indicated that the motion in the April 8th EDC minutes regarding
the downtown plan did not accurately reflect the discussion on the downtown plan
as stated in the minutes. She indicated that the discussion reflected that the
Council should accept the plan and then follow up with a committee to implement
the plan.
Following discussion it was the consensus of the EDC members that the plan
should be studied first by the EDC to determine timing, potential phases of the
project, and project costs and how they will be funded prior to accepting the plan.
4.1. Redevelopment of Existing Industrial Park
Chuck Marohn provided a memo and a map of the existing industrial park
showing lot and building layouts of existing buildings. Sheila Haverkamp stated
that the existing park is about 61 acres in size and contains 33 lots. Currently there
are just 4 acres of existing building in the park and she stated that the purpose of
this discussion is to see how to utilize the property at a higher level.
Ed Larsen stated that he felt the City should be encouraged to purchase some of
the vacant privately owned lots and then subdivide them.
