Brian Tweed was in attendance. He is a neighbor to the north and was concerned with
water problems on the north side on Flategraff's property. Mr. McCormick stated that
the water stays in the plat in Lots 3 &4. Mr. McCormick asked if the Commission
preferred this design, rather than the cul-de-sac,to warrant changes to the Preliminary
Plat. A culvert may be needed.
JOHN DERKSEN ARRIVED 8:19 P.M.
The Commission stated this was an acceptable proposal. The Commission will need to
receive letters from the City Street Superintendent,Mike Loven, and the School Bus
Superintendent, Randy, on this new proposal.
APPLICANT: Lakes State Bank Sign Permit.
Ms. Barajas explained the Staff Report. Mr. Woog reminded the Commission that the
new Ordinance regulates sign size by road speed. The posted speed is not known at this
time. Possible sign wars and safety hazards were discussed. The Commission also
questioned the size of other signs in the area—Wells Fargo, Super America and Sandelin
Office.
The Planning Commission suggested the following:
1. Submit a variance application for this sign design,or
2. Lower upper section to attach to bottom one, reaching the 12-foot height.
The character of the neighborhood would have been beneficial. The length of the bottom
panel needs to be clarified, along with the elevation point. Staff can permit a sign that is
12' in height and under 64 sq. ft. per side.
MINUTES:
A motion was made by Tom Adams, seconded by Dean Williams,to approve the Minutes
as submitted. All members voted"aye". Motion carried.
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT:
Bittner stated there were 5 permits issued in March and 3 letters written.
Potential Violations/Enforcement Actions:
Johnathon and Theresa Acosta- She stated that she has received another complaint about
their failure to complete the exterior of their home and asked the Commission for
direction. It was suggested that the Police Chief deliver a letter persuading them to
complete the siding, but decided that probably wouldn't accomplish anything. John
Derksen volunteered to stop and have a talk with him and report back to the Commission.
A complaint was received about the abandoned and/or inoperable vehicles in their yard.
Staff will send them a violation letter.
Planning Commission 5
April 21, 2005
