Roger Langenbau—Staff was instructed to appeal for his cooperation in cleaning
up the site.
Survey Comments:
Bittner stated that 3 survey forms had been sent out and only 1 returned. The only
negative comment was the length of time the conditional use permit took. Items that are
not required by statute to go before the Council could be approved at the Planning
Commission level and eliminate the extra step of going before the Council.
Reduce number of Commission Members:
During the budget review, a Council Member stated that the Council is considering
reducing the number of members in order to save money and wondered if the Planning
Commission would consider doing the same. Mr. Woog pointed out that when the "old"
City had 5 Commission members, it was very difficult to have a quorum with a small
group. A large group generates more comments and hopefully gives better
recommendations. The current ordinance requires no less than 7 and no more than 13
members.
Wilderness Point Resort:
Mr. Marohn explained that the new owners plan to switch out RV units with cabins. Any
used structures moved into the City requires a conditional use permit
OTHER BUSINESS—Highway 371 project:
Mayor Malecha explained the Staff Comments compiled by Tim Houle. Commission
members agreed that we need more right-ins and right-outs, parking is an issue, aesthetics
should be considered, as well as economic development.
A motion was made by Karl Moon, seconded by John Derksen, to adjourn the meeting.
All members voted"aye". Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 9:58 p.m
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Bittner
Zoning Administrator
-Planning Commission, August 19,2004, 6
