Hwy 371 Fri, Jan 30, 2004 1 :43 PM
From: "Don & Carol" <2k3gjac @uslink.net>
<sjoblads @uslink.net>
ate: Fri, Jan 30, 2004, 1:35 PM
Subject: Hwy 371
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Residents of Peqout Lakes It,s time to get serious about
The Highway 371 Project
I am for the #371 By-pass Alternate and my reasoning is outlined in the following
Comments.
1 . Building the #371 project on the present alignment would be putting off
problems for future generations to solve; when those problems are much magnified.
If you are against the By-Pass Alternative I would ask. How you plan to address
the problems of pedestrians, noise, splitting the town, parking, air quality, noise, and
attracting people to stop and spend time. (I submit with the increase in congestion
they well try to avoid stopping.)
3. With the By-Pass Alternative and construction to begin about 2010 there would
be about 5 years to develop interesting and fun things to do here. (Attractions)
4. With the by-pass Alternative, development along the new alignment can be
controlled by zoning and access control.
S. Signing showing what is available and directions to them could be place along the
By-pass alignment to let travelers know what to expect if they stop here. (Parking,
shopping, food, lodging, movies, etc.)
6. If the by-pass Alternative is chosen the city could work with the State to
improve access to the city. I feel several changes could make it easier to get in and
out of town this would encourage travelers to stop. Also some thought should be
ien to local traffic flows.
7. If you own a business in town and you feel the by-pass will cause your business
Page 1 of 2
