City Council Minutes <br />February 8, 2012 <br />Page 3 of 9 <br />M <br />Valerie Wallin, School District Chair noted that an amendment has been <br />made to the recently approved Memorandum of Understanding. This <br />amendment reduces the payment to the City by the City's portion of the <br />2012 property taxes which were paid by the School District during closing <br />of the property in the industrial park. The amended memorandum reflects <br />payment to the City in the amount of $93,940.54. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO APPROVE THE AMENDED <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING. COUNCIL MEMBER <br />AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5 -0. <br />6. Planning and Zoning Department Monthly Report <br />Report received by Council. <br />6.1. Consider Ordinance Amendment Regarding Expansion /Replacement of <br />Non - Conforming Structures <br />Dawn Bittner noted that the Planning Commission has reviewed the <br />proposed ordinance and has made some recommendations to simplify the <br />ordinance. <br />MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 12 -02 AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 17 OF THE CITY CODE REGARDING <br />EXPANSION /REPLACEMENT OF NON - CONFORMING STRUCTURES. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER MALECHA SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Council Member Akerson stated his opposition to the ordinance in that he <br />does not feel it is necessary to hire a licensed building inspector or <br />professional engineer to inspect the property. He also stated that he <br />disagreed with Item "K" in the ordinance. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AMEND THE MOTION BY <br />STRIKING J AND K IN THE ORDINANCE. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. <br />Mayor Adams stated that the Planning Commission has reviewed the <br />ordinance as requested, and has made changes to further simplify the <br />ordinance. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE ON THE AMENDMENT: <br />
