AGENDA ITEM #9.3
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Date: October 4, 2005
Sub iect: Pay Equity
Report: The pay equity preliminary report has been received
from the State. The City is not in compliance with the State Pay
Equity Law. Pay equity has to do with comparable pay for women
versus men. The City must be in compliance by December 31St
Non compliance will result in a fine of$100 per day or 5% of the
`- City's local government aid, whichever is more.
I have met with Ray Niemann and passed this information onto
him. He will be working with the State of Minnesota Department
of Employee Relations to ensure that the pay plan he will be
proposing will be compliant with the Pay Equity Law.
We hope to have the pay plan to the Council by the November 1 St
Council meeting.
Council Action Requested: The Council can vote to implement
the increases on the attached "Pay Equity Analysis" form, or wait
until the entire pay plan is reviewed by Council.
