Pequot Lakes - Hwy 371 North
August 21, 2005
We are awaiting feedback from MnDOT on what they will require from the City on a
sanitary sewer such as this.
Depending on its condition, the City may want to upgrade the sanitary sewer at the time of
this project.
45. There is a City watermain about 15 feet (this is an estimated dimension) within and
paralleling the east R/W line of TH 371. This watermain comes down from Front Street for
about 600 feet to Sibley Street next to the UBC (1960's vintage).
As this watermain is shown on old plans, its condition and whether or not it is even in a
casing pipe is unknown.
The line is in MnDOT's R/W by permit and if the highway construction impacts the
watermain in some way, the City will have to either encase it or relocate it at their expense.
We are awaiting feedback from MnDOT on what they will require from the City on an
older watermain such as this.
Depending on its condition, the City may want to upgrade the watermain at the time of this
project.
46. As a part of this project, MnDOT will handle the highway storm drainage as well as storm
sewers presently connected to the storm sewer system within the TH 371 R/W.
The City can partner with MnDOT during this construction project to pay for slightly larger
storm sewer pipe and stormwater infiltration basin volume to account for additional City
storm drainage brought into this system.
The City does want to cooperate with MnDOT on providing for(future)storm sewer to
more areas of the City and paying for a little more capacity in the highway system.
Jokela Street - North City Limits {1.1 miles}
47. MnDOT has reviewed and found no viable alternative to having the CSAH 17/Front Street
full access intersection on a curve on the highway.
48. The City is very concerned about the safety issues related to a right in-right out access
proposed for the Roger Langenbaugh property(north of CSAH 17 on west side) due to the
expected industrial truck traffic that will continue out of and into this property.
Semi-trucks leaving this property and wanting to head north would either try and make a U-
CADocuments and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKB\082105 Overall List of Issues-memo.doc
