PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 3, 2005 MEETING
The regular meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 22 members were
present. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved by a motion by Mike
Peterson, second by Varilek, motion passed.
Truck check reports followed. The 1995 (Engine 2)was good. Engine 1 was missing the
hydrant hose and orange safety cones. There is also extra 1 V hose in the compartment
under the crosslays that are not on the check sheet. The 75 pump has bad tires, a bad
brake light, the carb is leaking gasoline, and it was a quart low of oil. The Chev grass rig
light bar does not work. We should only spend what we need to to make it operable. The
Ford diesel grass truck and tanker 3 are good. Tanker 6 is missing a 2 '/z" double female.
The tender is OK. Its alternator was replaced at a cost of$300.00. We will try to get some
credit for the old one, which should be on warranty. The van is missing a gas can and the
generator on it was low on gasoline.
The financial report was we have a balance of$62,286.79 in the fire fund. Our checking
account has a balance of$9522.36, and we have all our current bills paid. There was no
balance available for the scholarship fund.
The historical society needs an antique stove moved to the basement museum. Roger will
help with that.
OLD business: We have the supplies to seal the underground water storage tanks. The
tanks need to be empty. We will get the needed pvc pipe ordered. The project should be
done the last week of August. We will need help, if anyone is available.
The Palisade deal is this Sunday. We will have 13 fire fighter going. There will be a
breakfast meet at County Cooking at 7:30 am. Bring your own refreshments. Beer will be
served with the meal.
New business: All our pumps have passed certification There were some valves repaired,
which added to the cost, which totaled $5236.27. Tom has increased the 2006 budgwet to
help cover this added cost.
We should look at installing a dry hydrant in Loon Lake public access for our 2005 grant.
Dan motioned we get bids for the project, second by Mike Peterson, motion passed
unanimous.
The new Breezy Point station is in operation. The door lock code is 524102. There will
be an open house there Saturday from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Be there if you can help.
The orange fire hose, which is rated for only 300 pounds is scattered all around. If you
find any of it, set it aside.
