As mentioned above, there are no turn lanes anticipated due to this space being taken
up by parking, thus, the CSAH 11/Main Street intersection would look similar to what it
does today.
MnDOT's latest layout shows a concrete center median extending from TH 371 back to
the east on CSAH 11/Main Street, stopping just shy of Government Drive.
However, considering some models of future traffic, it should not be a surprise that this
median may extend further east resulting in both the south leg and north leg of
Government Drive being a right in —right out at CSAH 11/Main Street.
A CSAH 11/Main Street center median cutting across Government Drive will have to be
coordinated with MnDOT and the County.
6. There will be diagonal parking on both sides of the through lanes.
Diagonal parking limits the crossing movements of 90-degree parking and will hopefully
provide for the possibility of smoother and safer traffic along Government Drive.
Costs to be paid for from the City Street budget, via special assessments to the abutting
property owners, or from a combination of the two.
7. Concrete curb and gutter will, at a minimum, be placed on the east side.
On the west side, if drainage can be handled in grassed swales, there will not be
concrete curb and gutter. Otherwise, there will be concrete curb and gutter on the west.
Costs to be paid for from the City Street budget, via special assessments to the abutting
property owners, or from a combination of the two.
8. There will be a concrete sidewalk, roughly the same width as present, on the east side
between the buildings and the concrete curb and gutter.
There will be no sidewalk on west side, as depending on the drainage arrangements,
there may not be curb and gutter on this side, plus the Paul Bunyan Trail is on this side.
Costs to be paid for from the City Street budget, via special assessments to the abutting
property owners, or from a combination of the two.
9. Does the City want the wooden rail fencing on the west side?
Does the City want benches, decorative light poles, or other aesthetics incorporated into
this project?
Any costs to be paid for from the City Park budget/fund.
CADocuments and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKB\Draft Government Drive proposal.doc
