City Council Minutes <br /> July 5, 2005 <br /> Page 3 of 8 <br /> ----------------------------- <br /> COMMISSION AND LISTED IN THE ZONING ADMINISTRATOR'S <br /> REPORT DATED JUNE 28, 2005. <br /> 5.3. Application for Road Easement from Minnesota Department of Natural <br /> Resources, Earl Hemmerich <br /> Chuck Marohn presented the staff report. Chuck Marohn explained that <br /> Mr. and Mrs. Hemmerich are requesting an easement on State land. <br /> Because the land is in a Trust Fund, an easement can only be granted to <br /> a governmental unit. Mr. Marohn indicated that the Planning Commission <br /> has recommended approval of the request. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER GREER MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 05-05 <br /> RELATING TO AN APPLICATION FOR AN EASEMENT ACROSS <br /> STATE LAND. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 7-0. <br /> 5.4. Downtown Plan <br /> Mark Jurchen, member of PLADO, requested the Council to initiate the <br /> downtown planning process. <br /> MAYOR MALECHA MOVED TO HIRE COMMUNITY GROWTH TO <br /> START A DOWNTOWN PLAN. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> Council discussion pursued regarding the process. Council Member Bolz- <br /> Andolshek stated that the City should define exactly what a downtown <br /> plan will entail. It was decided that Council Member Bolz-Andolshek would <br /> work with a committee and Mr. Marohn to define the plan. A proposal will <br /> be presented by Chuck Marohn at the August Council meeting. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD WITHDREW THE SECOND. MAYOR <br /> MALECHA WITHDREW THE MOTION. <br /> 6. Police Report <br /> Report presented by Deputy Chief Ryan. Council Member Sjoblad <br /> thanked the police department for its work on the parade. Deputy Chief <br /> Ryan indicated that he had help from four interns. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO GIVE A FIFTY DOLLAR <br /> GIFT CERTIFICATE FROM A POLICE SUPPLY COMPANY TO EACH <br /> INTERN WITH THE MONEY TO COME FROM THE COUNCIL <br />
