The Pequot lakes Brush Pilots snowmobile club donated an ice rescue sled to our
department. The value of this donation is $3000.00. We appreciate their support.
New fire department officers for 2005 are Fire Chief, Tom Nelson; First Assistant Chief,
Dan Loven; Second Assistant Chief, Dave Szymanski; Captains,Neil Casanova, Jeremy
Bridge, and Roger Varilek; Safety Officer, Bob Peterson II; Training Officers, Brian
Evenson and Daren Nordby; and Secretary-Treasurer,Bob Peterson I.
The fire department personnel report listed Kelly Larson as resigning from the
department, Natasha Carlson has recently joined the department, Tony Maurer resigned
from the department, and John Lauer, Nick Putnam, Patrick Selter, Mike Schwankl, and
Dustin Zeimet completed Fire fighter I classes.
The operations report listed that our fire pagers work better than ever after failing for
about two months. Our ice auger event held during the Breezy Point Ice Fest was the best
ever. This was the third year we have sponsored this. We plan to replace our water tender
truck with the newly renovated Ideal pump truck. We are working on updating our by-
laws and operation guidelines
Doug Rach, newly elected Mayor of Breezy Point, reported that the new Breezy Point
Emergency Services building is on schedule in construction. The extent to which we use
the facility is still not known for sure. The fire board does not have a written contract to
help fund operation of this new facility. We are under the impression that the new
building will be operated just like the two garage stalls we occupy now with a couple of
trucks. We have heard that North Ambulance may have an ambulance stationed in the
new building. This is not a reality.
Fire Board Officers are presently Bob Peterson as Chairman and Sharon Thurlow as
Vice-Chairperson. Election of Officers for the new year was called for. Greer motioned
that the present Officers remain the same for the year, second by Benson, motion passed.
A fire hall tour is available for anyone after our meeting.
Meeting dates for 2005 are April 27th, July 27h, October 2e, and January 25, 2006.
Mark your calendars.
Messerschmidt motioned to adjourn, second by Murphy, meeting adjourned. .
