CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES
MONTHLY WATER/WASTEWATER REPORT
OCTOBER 2006
Prepared by: Tina Nolden (Water/WW Operator)
WATERPLANT: I will be sending in our Auto-Dialer for a full
preventative maintenance service as soon as we receive a loaner.
I spoke with Kathy Russell (MDH) about quarterly water samples
that need to be taken, and she will be sending information and
sample kits so I can take care of those. Our water treatment plant
is rated a Class C Facility and I earned my Class C License on
4-21-06. It expires on 4-30-09 so I will need to renew my license
or test for the Class B License at that time.
WATER DISTRUBITION: I will be flushing hydrants soon.
Usually this is done earlier in the fall, but things have been a little
busy. We do this every spring and fall to clear the lines and to
exercise the hydrants. I will also be putting flags on many of the
hydrants to ensure they can be found when the snow comes.
I got a quote from Midwest Testing on hooking up a couple
meters to keep track of water being used for the Fire Dept. and
City Hall. I feel strongly that it would be a good idea to have this
done so I can determine, more accurately, how much water is
being taken from the treatment plant. I would like to know how
close we are to our "full" capacity. Midwest can also set up our
meter testing equipment, which we've had since 2001. This
equipment will help explain any of our questionable meter
readings. I've enclosed the quote sheet for these items.
WASTEWATER: Everything is flowing, keeping a close eye on
the TDS manholes. On Oct. 9th and 10th, Infratech thoroughly
cleaned the sewer main from the school manhole all the way to the
UBC Lift Station. They removed a lot of sand and a large clump
of roots. I have received some new root-killer from MARC
Chemical Co. It's a foaming compound and I believe it will work
1
